Christina Hite
Christina has been coming alongside the foster care community since 2011, when her friends welcomed two nieces into their family at a moment’s notice. In 2015, Christina and her husband, Dustin, welcomed two precious girls into their family through foster care, later adopting them in 2017. Christina and her family live at Community First! Village on the east side of Austin, and she has a passion for the ways foster care and homelessness intersect. She believes that supportive, intentional community is the missing ingredient for so many of the world’s injustices.
Christina has served as a foster parent recruiter and Empowered to Connect Parent Trainer, helping train and sustain others with trauma-informed parenting approaches. Before moving to Texas, she launched Surround, an initiative supporting local churches, agencies, and families who are all connected to the child welfare system in Peoria, Illinois. Christina has a degree in Human Services from Millikin University and continued her education at Oral Roberts University, completing both a Masters of Divinity and M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy. Christina is new to Austin and loves the food scene in the area. Her perfect afternoon includes a large iced coffee and an opportunity to write.
